Major Work Characteristics/ Summary of Position
Assists nursing graduate students, including the nurse practitioner students, with recruitment and management of required preceptors. Manages data systems software and online tools to record student clinical criteria data, progression, and compliance with needed documentation of background checks and immunizations. Maintains program records. Works collaboratively with constituents as needed to ensure high quality clinical outcomes. Acts as a liaison for the Centofanti School of Nursing graduate online program and Academic Partnerships™. Collaborates and assists the Centofanti School of Nursing Graduate Director, Advanced Practice Nursing Coordinators, Nursing faculty, and the College of Graduate Studies for recruitment in the degree and certificate programs.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and one year of administrative experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated experience in an academic setting.
Physical Requirements
In accordance with the U.S. Department of Labor physical demands strength ratings, this position will perform light work.
Light: work involves exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects, requiring: (1) walking or standing to a significant degree; (2) sitting most of the time while pushing or pulling arm or leg controls; or (3) working at a production rate pace while constantly pushing or pulling materials even though the weight or the materials is negligible. (The constant stress and strain of maintaining a production rate pace, especially in an industrial setting, can be and is physically demanding of a worker even though the amount of force exerted is negligible.
Job Duty
Essential Functions and Responsibilities: Manages all aspects of the clinical placement process and ensures effective operation of clinical practicums by assisting the faculty with organizing, supervising, and evaluating clinical sites, preceptors, and students. Monitors student placements and clinical records via preceptor software. Maintains and obtains contracts and/or mandatory legal documentation such as license verification, liability insurance, qualifications of preceptors, preceptor orientation, etc. Collaborates with university legal counsel for contract approval.
Manages data systems software and online tools to coordinate, monitor, and ensure documentation of compliance including background checks and immunizations.
Secures and coordinates clinical placement for all assigned programs for incoming and continuing students. Manages communication related to clinical placement.
Coordinates and assists faculty with regular assessment of students and preceptors.
Provides onboarding and/or orientation for preceptors and ensures clear objectives and expectations for students and preceptors. Provides comprehensive administrative, operational, and project support to the Graduate Program Director, Advanced Practice Nursing Coordinators, and faculty.
Creates and manages assigned databases to ensure complete and accurate information. Compiles reports and communicates data to appropriate stakeholders.
Manages the clinical facility agreements and related records. Performs periodic records audits.
Maintains regular contact with nursing colleagues, constituents, and preceptors at different clinical sites to ensure timely placement and to further relationships with partner institutions.
Participates in the preceptor recruitment process by building relationships, attending events, and utilizing other methods of outreach to secure preceptors for students that require assistance; includes networking with healthcare practitioners in a variety of settings to facilitate clinical placements for incoming and continuing students.
Works in collaboration with the appropriate faculty to hire and orient NP faculty for clinical practicums. Works collaboratively with administrative personnel on the program’s planning, evaluation, and implementation process to promote program effectiveness and growth.
Maintains oversight of professional nursing behaviors and actions of NP students. Communicates issues to the Graduate Director and/or appropriate faculty. Works with faculty to ensure efficient and effective student advising during clinical practicum. Ensures that practicum course syllabi are updated and posted in the appropriate forums. Ensures adequacy of clinical evaluation tools and methods within the NP program to determine consistency with learning outcomes and objectives.
Other Functions and Responsibilities: Maintains proficiency with Excel and other commonly used computer applications.
Employs excellent organizational skills; maintains the ability and skill level to work independently and collaboratively with all constituents.
Participates in the development of goals, policies, and procedures for the Centofanti School of Nursing; does related work as required.
Manages special projects and serves on committees at the request of the Chair. Participates in School of Nursing committees related to the program and in [CCNE] accreditation meetings.
Completes accreditation and regulatory reports as needed.
Fulfills other responsibilities in the Centofanti School of Nursing including scheduling, recruitment, and management of events at both the graduate and undergraduate levels.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Supervision Exercised: Supervision may be exercised over student employees.
