Position Description
The Vice President, Credit and Operations will provide strategic leadership in VFS US for Credit and Operational activities. This includes portfolio management, risk segmentation and analysis, and all aspects of credit including underwriting criteria, scorecard development and maintenance. This position is also responsible for the overall strategic design, implementation, and maintenance for all aspects of security perfection, billing, collections, and customer service for the Retail portfolio.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Evaluates and recommends business strategies for consideration and provides advice and counsel to the President VFS USA and other management team members
- Attracts, retains, and engages employees and demonstrates strong leadership for subordinate leaders and employees in their area of the organization
- Develops relationships with key Customers, Dealers, and OEMs and works internally with VFS Truck, Bus and Construction Equipment channel leaders/teams
- Tracks and integrates current industry data and trends into key risk processes while also informing and educating the broader organization.
- Oversees the management of workouts and restructuring of accounts.
- Leads activities for all financial services back-end operations (Collateral Administration, Collections, Customer Service, Repossession, Recovery & Remarketing, and Documentation and Funding).
- Works with the sales leadership team to ensure that we have a high quality and well balanced credit portfolio
- Creates/implements/manages retail credit & loss mitigation policies/guidelines to effectively minimize risk, manage delinquency and repossessed/end of lease assets and improve underwriting quality.
- Implements customer focused processes to improve organizational efficiency.
- Directs report creation to measure the performance of the Retail portfolio.
- Develops, documents and communicates effective risk management policies/procedures and ensures accurate/complete documentation for risk management policies/guidelines and audit .
- Develops appropriate metrics to measure Retail credit efficiency.
- Provides leadership to ensure key process/system changes are implemented on time and within budget.
- Creates strategic plans, including operating expenses, budget and talent management.
- Ensures compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements
- Participates as a member of the VFS USA Management team sharing best practices, resolving issues and providing support
- Evaluates transactions for credit worthiness as a member of Credit Committee, acts as Chief Risk Officer for VFS US
EDUCATION
- BA or BS in business or related field or equivalent experience. MBA preferred.
QUALIFICATION AND SKILLS
- 15+ years strong financial management experience in a finance company of equal or larger size/complexity as VFS USA
- 10+ years of proven leadership skills and experience in a management position including managing/developing manager level employees and providing leadership to large teams
- 10+ years’ experience in loan, lease or wholesale equipment finance underwriting, with proven credit structuring of commercial transactions
- 10+ years of experience in financial services with a proven track record of achievement in retail credit, risk, operations, and process improvement with significant exposure to functional areas such as finance, accounting, process and IT, commercial transactions and security perfection.
- Experience selling financial products within the transportation finance industry, highly desired
- Experience in the development of credit scorecards using modern analytical tools and techniques to drive credit automation best practices
- Experience in the area of commercial, equipment and/or inventory finance, preferably in a captive environment, preferred
- Knowledge and thorough understanding of lease and loan transactions as well as the ability to work cross-functionally.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to analyze complex financial statements, financial services processes and transactions, and prepare project plans, KPIs and management reports.
