Position Summary: The position of Senior Accountant will support the Accounting Services and Foundation functions, including internal and external reporting.
Principal Accountabilities:
- Act as a point person for the Accounting Services team to include addressing questions and concerns from other departments, and to providing assistance to the Manager
- Prepare the year-end work papers and financial statements for audit of the College and the Foundation
- Review reconciliations prepared by Accounting Technicians
- Prepare quarterly financial statements for the College Board of Trustees and the Foundation Board of Trustees, as well as other external reporting requirements as needed
- Responsible for the Foundation accounting to include general ledger postings; processing of scholarships; analysis of grant projects; reconciliation of scholarships/gifts balances for Advancement; preparation with year-end schedules and reports
- Research and study accounting changes related to GAAP, GASB and ORC rules and regulations
- Ensure construction requisitions have proper approvals and budget availability based on Board of Trustees authorization and compliance with construction guidelines
Requirements:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, or related field required
- Minimum of three years in an accounting related function required
- Significant understanding of GAAP required
- Excellent verbal and written skills required
- Prior work experience with an ERP system required
- Minimum 1 year supervisor experience required
- High level knowledge of Excel (pivot tables), Word, and Microsoft Outlook required
- Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills required
- Ability to work independently required
- GASB accounting and auditing experience preferred
- Experience with Ellucian/Colleauge preferred
