Housekeeping Staff

Salisbury University is accepting applications for positions in Housekeeping, including day & evening Housekeepers, Housekeeper Lead & Housekeeper Supervisor I.

These positions ensure the cleanliness, orderliness, and attractive conditions of building interiors. May be required to move furniture and equipment. These positions are expected to report to work in emergency situations such as extreme weather conditions when the campus may be closed.

Required/Minimum Qualifications: Ability to read, write and perform arithmetic calculations; to operate assigned tools and housekeeping equipment; to work with chemicals and cleaning solutions; to understand and follow directions; to lift and transport supplies and refuse; to wear and work in personal protective equipment. Must be able to lift up to 30 lbs., and do the following: walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing, standing, twisting, bending, pushing, pulling, crawling. Lead requires one year of housekeeping experience required. Supervisor requires three years of progressive supervisory experience in housekeeping.  High school diploma and experience in an institutional, educational, or industrial setting preferred.

All positions are full-time, non-exempt State positions with full benefits. Starting salary for the Housekeepers will be $15.53 per hour which is approximately $32,391 annually. Starting salary for the lead position will be $15.86 per hour which is approximately $33,079 annually. Starting salary for the supervisor position will be $16.87 per hour which is approximately $35,186 annually. Except for the day housekeeper whose primary schedule will be 8:00am-4:30pm, the primary schedules associated with these positions is Monday – Friday 4:00pm-12:30am, with occasional weekends required, they are eligible for shift differential of an additional $1.20 per hour. All positions come with a 2.5% increase after satisfactorily completing a six-month probationary period.
