Electrician/Installer for 2017-2018 School Year
Purpose Statement
The job of Electrician/Installer is done for the purpose/s of providing entry level maintenance services with specific responsibility for installation of district equipment and cabling and maintaining facilities and grounds in safe operating condition; addressing immediate operational and/or safety concerns; assisting skilled trades; and ensuring
that tools and materials are available at job site. This job reports to Maintenance General Supervisor
Essential Functions
* Assists maintenance workers with projects, but has the ability to work independently when appropriate
(e.g. transporting and/or securing materials, completing specific tasks, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects in a safe and efficient manner.
* Coordinates efforts with multiple internal/external parties (e.g. other technicians and departments,
vendors, district managers, other staff, school sites, etc.) for the purpose of completing projects, correcting projects,
and/or conveying information.
* Ensures that all technology systems and data meet security guidelines for the purpose of complying
with federal, state and district regulations and procedures.
* Informs supervisor regarding procedures and/or status of work orders for the purpose of providing information for making decisions, taking appropriate action and/or complying with building and safety regulations.
* Installs a variety of items for the purpose of maintaining district facilities.
* Maintains necessary inventory and materials (e.g. electrical cables, clocks, electrical, exit lights, etc.) for the purpose of ensuring availability of items as needed.
Participates in meetings and training sessions for the purpose of conveying and/or gathering information required to perform functions.
* Performs a wide variety of repairs and maintenance (e.g. low voltage cabling, electrical, clocks, grounds equipment, exit lights, etc.) for the purpose of keeping the district' facilities and equipment operating efficiently and correctly.
* Prepares written materials (e.g. repair status, activity logs, etc.) for the purpose of documenting activities and/or conveying information to supervisor.
Repairs or fabricate items using a wide variety of tools (e.g. electric saws, electric drills, hand-held tools, etc.) for the purpose of repairing items in the district to keeping them functional.
* Troubleshoots and diagnoses problems with electrical circuitry for the purpose of maintaining the safe and efficient operation of electricity throughout the school.
Other Functions
Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
Job Requirements: Minimum Qualifications
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
SKILLS are required to perform multiple, highly complex, technical tasks with a need to routinely upgrade skills in order to meet changing job conditions. Specific skill based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: utilizing pertinent network, application, operating system monitoring and troubleshooting software; building and repairing servers; adhering to safety practices; planning and managing projects and preparing and maintaining accurate records. KNOWLEDGE is required to perform basic math, including calculations using fractions, percent, and/or ratios; understand written procedures, write routine documents, and speak clearly; and understand complex, multi-step written and oral instructions. Specific knowledge based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: standard methods, materials and tools used in assigned skilled trade; and safety practices and procedures. ABILITY is required to schedule activities; collate data; and use basic, job-related equipment. Flexibility is required to work with data utilizing specific, defined processes; and operate equipment using defined methods. Ability is also required to work with others; work with specific, job-related data; and utilize specific, job-related equipment. Problem solving with data requires following prescribed guidelines; and problem solving with equipment is limited. Specific ability based competencies required to satisfactorily perform the functions of the job include: setting priorities; ability to learn various management platforms; flexibility; establishing effective relationships; being attentive to detail; communicating with diverse groups; multi-tasking ability; conveying technical information to nontechnical audiences; and working non- standard hours.
Responsibility
Responsibilities include: working under direct supervision using standardized routines; leading, guiding, and/or coordinating others; operating within a defined budget. utilization of significant resources from other work units is sometimes required to perform the job's functions. There is a continual opportunity to have some impact on the

Work Environment
The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling, frequent climbing and balancing, frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling and significant fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires 10% sitting, 30% walking, and 60% standing.
The job is performed under minimal temperature variations and under conditions with some exposure to risk of injury and/or illness.
Experience: Job related experience is required.
Education: High school diploma or equivalent.

Clearances: Criminal Background Clearance, Physical
