Job Description and Duties
The Senior Psychologist (Health Facility) (Specialist) serves as the Forensic Assessment Team Lead. At Porterville Developmental Center, this position includes functioning as a facility-wide forensic, psychological, and behavioral management consultant. The duties of the specialist will include coordinating and tracking forensic data and evaluation requests, ensuring timely completion of forensic evaluations, completion of forensic and psychological evaluations, providing consultation regarding complex cases, training psychologists and other disciplines in forensic psychology topics including competency to stand trial, assisting the interdisciplinary team, identify necessary services and supports for less restrictive placements, assisting with court competency classes and mock trials, developing curriculum as warranted, and coordinating necessary staff training such as annual certification course for competency instructors. May also assist the Senior Psychologist (Supervisor) in responsibilities for directing clinicians completing forensic or psychological evaluations and ensuring quality assurance of evaluations within standards of practice.
This is a limited-term position that may be extended or may become permanent.
On August 5, 2021, State of California, Health and Human Services Agency State Public Health Officer Order (Order) mandated that all workers who provide services or work in Health Care facilities listed in the Order have their first dose of a one-dose COVID-19 vaccine regimen or their second dose of a two-dose regimen by September 30, 2021.
Working Conditions
Physical Demands: Must possess and maintain sufficient strength, agility, endurance, and sensory ability to perform the duties contained in the duty statement.
Typical Working Conditions: Regular interaction with clients and staff in monitoring provision of direct services, and other conditions common to on and off residence training environments. Exposure to communicable diseases, blood-borne pathogens and other conditions common to a clinical nursing environment. Position requires prolonged sitting and use of computer terminal.
