As an award winning transit provider, our organization understands the importance of having the right talent in key roles such as this. We are looking for a highly skilled, sales oriented Community Outreach Assistant Manager to join our Planning and Community Development Division.
The ideal candidate will be an exceptional communicator with an ability to network and build strong, cooperative business relationships. The person we are looking for will work closely with stakeholders both within Pierce Transit as well as in the community to market our services and meet sales goals.
Some of the regular functions in this role will include:
- Plans, organizes and oversees the Employer Services program involving evaluating transportation needs, offering solutions to transportation barriers, creating and implementing customized transportation programs, and providing ongoing training for community employers and their representatives.
- Develops community awareness of the mission and strategic initiatives of the Agency. Conducts and oversees community outreach activities to promote Pierce Transit services.
Essential Functions

- Manages the Employer Services Program and supervises Employer Services staff.
- Oversees ORCA business account sales, rideshare services, and Commute Trip Reduction (CTR) services.
- Assists in the development and coordination of Agency outreach plans to build community awareness of Pierce Transit projects and services.
- Represents Pierce Transit on a variety of stakeholder groups to include public presentations tailored to the needs of the targeted audience.
- Assists the department in achieving strategic priorities aligned with organizational goals, measures, and outcomes.
- Demonstrates regular and reliable attendance.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Knowledge of and skill in applying:
Performance data analysis and progress monitoring;
Business and strategic planning;
Market research principles;
Community or economic development;
Modern communication tools such as social media; and
Modern office equipment.
Skill in and ability to:
Prepare reports, presentations, training materials, promotional materials and/or other related documentation and correspondence;
Communicate and interact with coworkers, supervisor, the general public at a level sufficient to exchange or convey information and to receive work direction;
Interact and communicate effectively, both in writing and orally;
Supervise staff; facilitate and lead teams;
Manage and administer projects, programs, or operational activities;
Implement community outreach programs;
Effectively utilize public relations and communications skills;
Manage time and analytically solve problems;
Make decisions and develop effective partnerships through collaboration and persuasion and negotiation tactics.
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Communications, Marketing, Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field with three (3) to five (5) years of experience in sales, training, communication, public presentations and negotiations; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job such as those listed above. Special Requirement: Must have a valid Washington State driver's license at the time of hire.
