Perpetua Resources is seeking an experienced accountant to lead the accounting team and manage the treasury, financial reporting and planning functions. The successful candidate will streamline financial reporting and budgeting processes to improve operational efficiency and support the Corporation’s future growth. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced individual looking to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment for a modern mining company.
This position can be located at the Boise office, or Donnelly office, or potentially a partial remote work option.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare Quarterly and Annual Financial Statements; ensure the accounting procedures and reported results conform to generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
- Manage the audit and review process of the quarterly and annual financial statements with the Company’s external auditors
- Manage internal controls documentation and reporting with internal controls consultants
- File the US and Canadian Tax returns, by providing requested data to tax compliance advisors
- Lead the budget and forecast process, including providing timetable and templates
- Provide assistance to departments in preparation of budgets; and consolidate all department budgets and prepare analysis
- Build and maintain efficient cost control processes for construction and operations
- Oversee monthly cost reporting process to management, inclusive of variance analysis and cost forecasting for the executive team and Board of Directors
- Direct all aspects of accounting operations, overseeing all transactions related to general ledger
- Work with Human Resources to ensure an accurate and efficient payroll process
- Develop and implement the processes, procedures, systems, and financial controls that report and preserve the integrity and accuracy of the company’s financial data
- Drive culture of continuous improvement, focused on efficiency, reduce data entry time/errors and overall timeliness of accounting function
- Manage the administration of the US and Canadian bank accounts
- Ensure adequate controls over the bank accounts and management of the positive pay process and Automated Clearing House (ACH) releases; and
- Establish and monitor staff performance and development goals, assign accountabilities, set objectives, establish priorities, conduct annual performance appraisals
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills
- Solid understanding of GAAP, accounting policies and financial reporting
- CPA preferred but not required
- Strong personal computer skills including extensive use of Excel and general ledger
- Ability to operate with substantial latitude in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work under deadlines and adapt quickly to changing business needs
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance;
- Minimum of 7+ years’ experience in accounting, financial statement preparation and general finance knowledge;
- Experience in assessing, analyzing and improving business budgets;
- Experience in the preparation or review of Financial Statements prepared in accordance with GAAP (required) and IFRS (preferred);
- Knowledge of mining industry is preferred; and
- Experience in ERP system selection and implementation preferred
