HVAC Technician
Ohio Wesleyan University is a selective, private, undergraduate liberal arts, residential institution founded in 1842 and is located just 20 miles north of Columbus. The University’s Buildings and Grounds Office invites applications for an HVAC Technician, a mechanical trade’s person with significant troubleshooting capabilities. This is a full-time, 12-month, benefit eligible position reporting directly to the Supervisor of Mechanical Trades.
Responsibilities
The responsibilities include (but are not limited to) assisting with the operation, maintenance, and field repair of boiler, steam, pneumatic, hydronic, HVAC, refrigeration, plumbing, and building automation systems. Responsibilities will also include programming, maintenance, and operating multiple building automation systems, including troubleshooting and field repairs. Other responsibilities include; help supervise/coordinate outside contractors and vendors, assist with the preventive maintenance program, help maintain supply/inventory levels, and other duties as assigned by the Mechanical Trades Supervisor.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent is required
- Valid State of Ohio driver’s license
- Five years previous experience in one of the following trades; stationary engineer, commercial/industrial HVAC service, or refrigeration service
- Significant experience utilizing open and closed protocol building automation systems
- A State of Ohio certification in one of the above mentioned fields would be desirable
- EPA type II, III, or Universal Refrigeration Certification
- Knowledge of National, State, and local mechanical installation and safety codes
- Knowledge of a broad base of commercial/industrial HVAC and refrigeration equipment is preferred. i.e. electrical control systems, motors and motor controls, basic wiring methods, soldering/brazing techniques, and the ability to read and understand a wiring schematic
- Skilled in communication and record keeping
- MS “Word” & “Excel” experience is desirable
