Engineering & Operations Manager
NLI is a member-owned rural electric cooperative serving northern Idaho, western Montana, and northeast Washington. The cooperative serves 20,000 consumers over 2,800 miles of distribution line with annual revenue of $30.0 million. NLI receives most of its wholesale power from the Bonneville Power Administration and is a member of the Pacific Northwest Generating Cooperative (i.e., G&T). NLI owns and operates a FERC licensed high hazard hydroelectric project located in Troy, MT. Formed in 1935, NLI is the oldest rural electric cooperative west of the Mississippi River.
The E&O Manager is responsible for the construction and maintenance, engineering, and dispatch functions for the utility; including 38 employees. Candidates should have a minimum of 10 years electric utility experience, and at least five years senior management experience. A bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or business administration is preferred. However, extensive electric utility experience in a senior staff role may substitute for college degree, and/or experience as an electric journeyman lineworker. Working knowledge of hydroelectric dams is desirable. The successful candidate will be a person of high integrity and have proven leadership skills. The individual must also be a team player, having strong interpersonal and communication skills. The successful candidate must live within 30 miles of Sagle headquarters. NLI headquarters is in the Idaho panhandle near Sagle, Idaho just five miles south of Sandpoint.
Also, Sagle is 40 miles north of Coeur d'Alene and 65 miles east of Spokane, Washington; allowing access to the convenience of a large city. With the Kaniksu and Coeur d'Alene National Forests in the area, the region is know for its rugged and picturesque beauty. Lake Pend Oreille and the Priest River are nearby supplying ample year-around water sports and fishing opportunities.
