Research Scientist
PRA or Post Doctorate Fellow Position is located at the Richmond VA
Medical Center - Oncology Department with extensive collaborations with VCU faculty and will involve use of VCU core facilities. Research will focus on understanding the mechanism of high dose acetaminophen's (AAP, Tylenol) anti-tumor activity. The antidote for AAP overdose is n-acetylcysteine (NAC). Preliminary clinical studies have demonstrated that high dose AAP with NAC rescue has substantial anti-cancer efficacy in humans. Our group's primary focus is the elucidate the mechanism underlying high-dose AAP's anti-tumor activity. Our areas of interest include tumor immunology and cancer stem cell biology, and research experience in these areas is preferred. The successful applicant will have tissue culture experience and animal handling experience is preferred.
Other skills that would be valuable include flow cytometry, qPCR, immunohistochemistry and western blotting.
Salary is negotiable and will be equivalent to VCU post-doctoral or PRA salaries as appropriate.
Salary will be paid via the non-profit, McGuire Research Institute.
