Graphic Designer
The Gazette’s marketing team is looking for a graphic designer who is motivated to combine the art of design with the art of storytelling. Our ideal candidate is a motivated self-learner who is a creative, totally awesome and team-oriented person. What you'll do
- Execute small to medium-sized projects from a concept to design
- Design and enhance the UX of our projects and marketing communications
- Innovate new ways to visualize content and messaging for our digital audiences
- Assist with the visual branding of the team's projects
- Help establish and promote design guidelines, best practices and standards
- Create mockups and prototypes that effectively communicate our messaging and design ideas
- Create stand-alone visual content features and as well as integrated interactive projects.
- Work closely with the technical staff to plan the most efficient design and implementation of content features
- Help with the implementation of designs using HTML, CSS and JavaScript
- Conduct user research and evaluate user feedback
Skills you should have
- Strong knowledge of user-centric design plus extensive experience using Adobe's Creative Suite
- Demonstrated visual design expertise; capacity for creating engaging and usable UI designs and layouts with a propensity towards simplification and mobile first thinking
- Solid understanding of contemporary UI/UX design patterns
- Understanding of local, national and international news developments

Education/Experience
- 4+ years of experience in graphic design
- Strong online portfolio with demonstrated examples of designing great marketing collateral
- Knowledge of how design impacts UX
- A knack for constructing dynamic collateral with just a few concepts from the stakeholder
- A bachelor’s degree in visual/graphic design, marketing or related field or equivalent experience
- Experience working in a collaborative team environment
- Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills
