Job Summary:
Provides support to undergraduate students to help ensure academic, personal, and career success. Utilizes best practices to improve retention and graduation rates. Provides individualized guidance and services to students. Connects students to relevant campus and community resources, monitors and tracks progress of students. Maintains communication with faculty and staff in support of SAS programs. Coordinates workshops and student enrichment activities.

  • Meets with individual students to assess needs. Refers and connects students with relevant university resources (housing, counseling services, disability resources, tutoring, financial aid, career services, etc.) to ensure that students remain on the path to degree completion.
  • Monitors and records progress of individual students; maintaining consistent and confidential records of students. Analyzes student data to make decisions related to the student’s progress. Serves as an advocate for students with university processes and services, as needed. Works with faculty as well as academic and non-academic units to track students and to ensure they are attending classes, labs, tutoring, and engaging in campus activities and programs.
  • Coordinates with Student Life & Development and other areas to ensure students are engaged and integrated into the university community. Prepares students for graduation, postgraduate plans, and career counseling. Coordinates workshops and student activities.
  • Participates in community outreach activities. Supports the recruitment process to attract and enroll students into college access programs.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of appropriate experience, or Master's degree.

 

Desired Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Counseling, Social Work, or Higher Education.
  • Experience counseling and/or advising students.
  • Experience recruiting high school students and first-time college applicants.
  • Experience preparing and delivering presentations.

Advertised Salary:  $45,000-$47,500


Work Schedule:  

  • Begin time: 8:30 AM
  • End time: 5:00 PM

Other Information:

  • Ability to work flexible hours as needed.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends and at locations outside of the University
  • Ability to Travel to FIU Locations and/or FIU Campuses.
