JOB SUMMARY:
-
Looking for a qualified Echo tech available to work every Friday and every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday) at minimum. Occasional On-call may be required.

The purpose of this role is to perform routine and/or specialized cardiac ultrasound exams.
-
Acquires/analyzes data using diagnostic medical ultrasound and related technologies providing calculations/data for medical staff interpretations.

Provides patient care, treatment, and services within the scope of their license, certification, registration, and/or assessed competencies.
-
Practice will be in accordance with laws and regulations and will adhere to established policies, procedures and practice guidelines.
JOB RESPONSIBILTIES:
-
Directs and guides patient teaching activities while maintaining standards of professional practice.
-
Collaboration and teamwork with personnel to provide high quality patient care.Selects equipment for use in ultrasound setup according to specifications of examination.

Performs Doppler studies on cardiac patients.
-
Determines and documents the presence, location and severity or absence of cardiac disease.
-
Provides a quantitative comparison for evaluation of the stability, improvement, and deterioration of cardiac disease.

Communicates results to Cardiologist and responds to questions and concerns.

Organizes time, supplies, and equipment efficiently and effectively.
-
Participates in professional organizations and activities, which promote growth and development

Participates in continuous quality improvement teams and activities.
-
Participates in supporting the organization’s vision, mission and values and adheres to DeKalb Medical Standards of Behavior.

Performs other duties as assigned to meet the goals and objectives of DeKalb Medical.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education - Experience and/or Certification Required:
-
High school graduate.
-
Minimum of 1-2 years’ experience and formal training from an accredited school.
-
BLS certification.
Licensure Required:
-
Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS), Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) or registry eligible (applicable to new graduates). New graduates have 1 year from date of hire to become fully registered.

Ability to monitor the patient’s condition and respond accordingly

Ability to make accurate decisions and responds instantaneously in emergency situations to include initiation of CPR

Good written and oral communication skills

Maintains good working knowledge of procedures and equipment

Ability to manipulate heavy equipment as required

Performs skills and competencies as defined in orientation checklist and annual departmental competency checklist if applicable.

Demonstrates and maintains competencies specific to patient population served.

Reports to: Echo Supervisor
