Asset Management Specialist

Full-time, non-exempt position with a starting wage range of $21.58 - $24.81 per hour, DOQ. Closes 1/31/19.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Pavement Management Engineer, performs technical office duties, field data collection, and inspection of all public roadways. Conducts GIS encoding and layer maintenance and manipulation of data associated with the pavement management section of the Geographic Information System. Also conducts pavement management short-term and long-term budgetary analysis.
  • Additionally, will make recommendations as to the type of preventative maintenance or pavement rehabilitation strategy to be completed on various roadways, based on the data collected. Provides price and quantity calculations, and potential costs benefits on projected projects.

 

Qualifications:

  • Must have strong computer skills including use of MS Office, databases, and ArcGis, as well as experience with data collection, manipulation, and analysis.
  • Must have a good knowledge of the principles of highway construction and inspection; construction and pavement asset practices and processes; policies and standards for roads and developments; mathematical, engineering, and statistical calculations; financial and budgetary analysis methodology; traffic safety and safety procedures.
  • Requires a valid Idaho Driver’s License with the ability to operate ACHD vehicles in the completion of duties.
  • Associate level degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology, or related field. Any combination of education, training or experience which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be acceptable.

 

 

TRAFFIC ANALYST

Full-time, non-exempt position with a starting wage range of $17.83 - $20.50 per hour, DOQ. Closes 2/6/19.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • The Traffic Analyst assists in the analysis, development, and operation of traffic safety on all Ada County residential streets. The incumbent conducts traffic surveys, tabulates results, and provides departmental assistance for public meetings and inquiries. The incumbent works closely with residents, Neighborhood Associations, and other government agencies in dealing with traffic concerns on local streets.
  • Obtains, organizes and analyzes traffic data, investigates citizen concerns and requests. Duties may also include field layouts of striping, signs and other roadway safety features and preparation of the necessary work orders for approval.
  • Reviews temporary traffic control plan submittals for conformance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and ACHD requirements.

 

Qualifications:

  • Requires strong communication skills (both verbal and written), coupled with the ability to work as a liaison between the Traffic Engineering staff, other departments, and with the public.
  • Must have the ability to perform mathematical calculations. Some knowledge of engineering practices and techniques is desirable, but not required.
  • Knowledge of Word and Excel is required; Access database and GIS experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge of the MUTCD and ACHD policies is a must. Must be able to obtain Traffic Control Technician certification within one year of hire.
  • Requires a valid Idaho Driver’s License and the ability to operate ACHD vehicles in the completion of duties.
  • Any combination of education and experience, which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities, is acceptable.

 

 

Engineering Technician I/II/III

Full-time, non-exempt position with a starting wage range of $19.62 - $27.29 per hour, DOQ. Closes 1/23/19.

 

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Reviews commercial and residential developments for compliance with ACHD policies and standards.
  • Performs plan, stormwater, and subdivision plat reviews, assists inspection staff, and provides oral and written communication of results within a strict deadline. The incumbent answers inquiries from the public, developers, engineers, and other agencies.

 

Qualifications:

  • Engineering Tech I: The ability to read civil plans is required. A degree in Civil Engineering, Engineering Technology or a related field is a plus. Previous development review experience is preferred, but not required.

Engineering Tech II: Requires 2 years of experience.

Engineering Tech III: Requires 3-5 years of experience.

  • The position requires a working knowledge of Civil Engineering principles and practices and the ability to apply policies and standards to documents and plans.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite. Knowledge of ArcView or other mapping software is a plus. A valid Idaho driver’s license is required.
  • Any combination of education, experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities may be acceptable.
