Blaine County is seeking applications for the full-time position of Chief Public Defender. The Chief Public Defender is responsible for providing and supervising the provision of legal representation to all persons statutorily and constitutionally entitled to such representation when appointed to do so by the Court. This position is also responsible for directing and supervising employees, as well as preparing and presenting the Department's proposed annual budget. This work is performed under the guidelines provided by law, and under the supervision of the Blaine County Administrator.
Minimum Qualifications: Passage of the Idaho State Bar Examination and subsequent license to practice law in the State of Idaho. Ten (10) years' experience with legal representation including not less than five (5) years' experience defending criminal cases; experience as a public defender may be considered an attribute for appointment.
Salary: Starting annual salary of $116,201, depending on experience; excellent benefits package including medical, dental, vision coverage, and retirement benefits through the Public Employee Retirement System of Idaho (PERSI).
