SEASONAL POSITIONS - Hiring Immediately!
Ada County Highway District is now hiring for Seasonal/Temporary positions to assist with work throughout the spring, summer, and early fall season. Positions are available now!
Requirements for all seasonal positions:
- Must be able to work in outdoor weather conditions;
- Must have a valid Idaho Driver’s License with a good driving record, and be at least 18 years of age;
- Must be able to lift/carry 35-50 pounds on a regular basis.
All crews work a 40-hour week; however, work is dependent on weather conditions. Crews work Monday through Thursday, with Friday, Saturday, and Sunday off; with the exception of the Subdivision Inspector. The Inspector will work 40-hours a week, Monday – Friday.
Openings are available for the following crew positions:
- Paint Crew: This crew completes roadway markings including placement of reflective markers and application of hot tape and paint striping for crosswalks, arrows, and bike lanes. This is an early morning crew who works from 3:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m. Pay is $10.50/hour.
- Crack & Chip Seal Crew: Crew prepares and seals pavement cracks with hot-applied asphalt sealant. Also will apply oil and gravel in the corners of the roadways, move traffic control signs, and assist with various manual tasks. This crew works 7:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. Pay is $10.50/hour.
- CDL Drivers (Class A): Driver openings may be available intermittently throughout the season. Will assist crews with labor, driving, and road construction tasks. Must have 10-wheel dump truck experience, be able to frequently lift/carry up to 35 pounds, and have labor experience. Pay is $12.00/hour.
- Subdivision Inspector: Monitor, inspect and investigate contractor compliance with District plans, specifications and standards for work performed within the public right-of-way areas. Must have a good knowledge of basic construction practices and procedures; ability to perform mathematical engineering calculations; ability to read and interpret construction specifications, civil engineering drawings; ability to prepare effective inspection notes. Pay is $11.00 - $14.00 DOQ/DOE.
Temporary Position Application Process
Seasonal/Temporary positions working with ACHD are hired through an agency, and are not employees of ACHD. A completed Seasonal/Temporary application is required (not a standard ACHD Employment application). The application must be submitted to ACHD’s Human Resources for the selection process. Seasonal/Temporary applications are available at ACHD’s main Administration Building at 3775 Adams St.; Garden City, ID 83714 or by request from HR@achdidaho.org.
