Engineering Lab Technician/Sr. Lab Technician

Starting wage for the Lab Technician is $16.00 - $18.40 per hour, DOQ, 

Sr. Lab Technician wage is $19.40 - $22.30 per hour, DOQ.

Engineering Lab Technician & Sr. Lab Technician:

  • Conducts sampling and testing of soils, aggregate, asphalt, and concrete to assure minimum District standards and specifications for construction materials are met (in the field and laboratory), and also completes the necessary documentation for each test.  Both the Engineering Technician and Sr. Engineering Technician interact frequently with District inspectors and contractors.  

Sr. Engineering Lab Technician:  

  • Additionally, performs technical materials tests and supervises other employees in the performance of their standardized laboratory tests. The incumbent often functions as the lead technician for field sampling and materials sample gathering. 

 

Planner/Sr. Planner

Starting wage range for the Planner is $25.80-29.70 per hour/ DOQ and 

For the Sr. Planner is $28.40-$32.60 per hour/DOQ.

  • The Planner works in a fast-paced team environment, reviewing current land development applications from Ada County and the six cities within Ada County, for compliance with District policies and standards.  The Planner conducts reviews on current development applications and provides oral and written communication to interested parties of development applications, including the ACHD Commission, other governmental agencies, developers, engineers, architects, and the general public.

 

General Equipment Operator – Grade Crew

Starting wage range for the General Equipment Operator on the Grade Crew is 

$21.30 - $24.50 per hour/ DOQ.

  • Under general supervision of the Crew Chief, the primary duty of this position is to perform skilled work and operate light- to heavy-duty maintenance equipment which includes dump truck, water truck, roller, loader, air compressor, jackhammer, as well as winter maintenance equipment for plowing, sanding, and deicing the roads. This position will repair and replace asphalt on the roadways, including potholes, trench repairs, shoulder barrow ditch repairs, chip sealing, crack sealing, and other road maintenance. Responding to winter weather conditions and other emergencies is an essential function of this position and will require working outside of normal work hours.

 

Traffic Analyst

Starting wage range for the Traffic Analyst is $19.40 - $22.30 per hour/ DOQ.

  • The Traffic Analyst works in a fast-paced team environment, reviewing temporary traffic control plan submittals for permitted activities taking place in ACHD's public rights-of-way for compliance with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD), Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), and District policies and requirements. The Traffic Analyst conducts reviews of temporary traffic control plan submittals and provides oral and written communication to interested parties of the temporary highway use applications, including the applicant, contractor, traffic control company, and other District employees.  Duties may also include field visits to verify existing roadway conditions.



General Equipment Operator – Utility Crew

Starting wage range for the General Equipment Operator on the Utility Crew is 

$21.30 - $24.50 per hour/ DOQ.

  • Under general supervision of the Utility Crew Chief, the primary duties of this position are to perform skilled work, manual labor, and operate light- to heavy-duty maintenance equipment. The crew performs a variety of work from cleaning ditches, fixing cave-ins, and laying pipe to installing concrete.  Responding to winter weather conditions and other emergencies is an essential function of this position and may require working outside of normal work hours.

 

General Equipment Operator – Rover

Starting wage range for the General Equipment Operator – Rover is 

$21.30 - $24.50 per hour/ DOQ.

  • This GEO position works with the Paint Crew and Grade Crew.  Time will be split between these crews during the year.  The GEO will operate various paint vehicles and equipment to mark roadways.  Markings include striping, crosswalks, arrows, bike lanes, raised pavement markers, etc.  Will also assist in paint related duties, such as maintaining and cleaning the equipment, keeping daily logs, setting up traffic control and work zone safety, and monitoring of seasonal help. May also perform maintenance on roadways including cracksealing, patching, potholes, trench repairs, shoulder repairs, and other road maintenance and asphalt techniques.  Operates light- to heavy-duty maintenance equipment which may include dump truck, water truck, street sweeper, roller, front-end loader, jackhammer, and winter maintenance equipment for plowing, sanding, and deicing the roads.  Early morning painting and winter operations are essential functions and will require the employee to work outside of normal work hours during peak seasons.

 

Leadworker – Grade Crew

Starting wage range for the Leadworker is $25.80 - $29.70 per hour/ DOQ.

  • Under general supervision of the Crew Chief, the Leadworker will perform a wide variety of skilled maintenance functions such as chipsealing, fog sealing, crack sealing, asphalt paving/patching, gravel roadway and alley grading, and shoulder/borrow ditch maintenance.  The Leadworker assists with the direction of work for the crew and may act as Crew Chief in his absence.  Responding to winter weather conditions and other emergencies is an essential function of this position and may require working outside of normal work hours.  The Leadworker will be required to be on an “on-call” rotation year around.

 

Project Inspector

Starting wage range for the Traffic Analyst is $25.80 - $29.70 per hour/ DOQ.

  • The Project Inspector is responsible for contract and project monitoring as well as inspection and evaluation of construction projects being performed in the right-of-way to ensure work meets District standards, policies, and specifications. The individual duties will include participating in pre-construction conferences on assigned projects; inspecting steel and concrete structures; coordinating surveying and materials testing; preparing technical data for contract changes, preparing monthly pay estimates, quantities, change orders, and overrun justifications; coordinating resolution of engineering, construction, right-of-way, utility work, and safety problems; conducting weekly inspection of storm water pollution prevention plans.
