Engineering Technician

This position will work nights from 12:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Tuesday through Friday.

- Under general supervision of the Crew Chief, the primary duty of this position is to perform skilled work and operate light- to heavy-duty maintenance equipment which includes dump truck, water truck, roller, loader, air compressor, jackhammer, as well as winter maintenance equipment for plowing, sanding, and deicing the roads. This position will repair and replace asphalt on the roadways, including potholes, trench repairs, shoulder barrow ditch repairs, chip sealing, crack sealing, and other road maintenance. Responding to winter weather conditions and other emergencies is an essential function of this position and will require working outside of normal work hours.
Subdivision Inspector

Zone Inspector

LEADWORKER – BROOM CREW
Starting wage is $25.80 - $29.70 per hour, DOE.

- Under general supervision, the Leadworker will perform a wide variety of skilled maintenance functions to accomplish the street sweeping functions of the crew. The Leadworker assists with the direction of work for the crew and may act as Crew Chief in his absence. The Leadworker is required to be on an “on-call” rotation year around. This Leadworker position oversees mechanical and vacuum street sweepers and several dump trucks and is responsible to operate water trucks. Must be able to work nights, 12:00 midnight - 10:30 a.m. Tuesday through Friday.
Planner / Sr. Planner

- The Planner works in a fast-paced team environment, reviewing current land development applications from Ada County and the six cities within Ada County, for compliance with District policies and standards. The Planner conducts reviews on current development applications and provides oral and written communication to interested parties of development applications, including the ACHD Commission, other governmental agencies, developers, engineers, architects, and the general public.
Sr. Equipment Operator- Cloverdale Utility
Starting wage is $23.50 - $27.00 per hour, DOE.

- Under general supervision of the Utility Crew Chief, the primary duties of this position are to perform skilled work in the operation of specialized heavy equipment for District construction and maintenance activities. The crew performs a variety of heavy manual work—from cleaning ditches, fixing cave-ins, and laying pipe to installing concrete in connection with the maintenance and construction of curb, gutter, sidewalks, streets, storm drains, concrete structures, and traffic control facilities. Also responsible for installation and maintenance of bridges and guardrails. The Sr. Equipment Operator will be assigned between crews depending on the maintenance needs of the Cloverdale and/or Adams locations. Winter operations are an essential function, and may require the employee to work outside of normal work hours
Survey Technician
Starting wage is $16.00 - $18.40 per hour, DOE.

- The Survey Technician will perform entry-level technical work in field surveying, development and maintenance of engineering projects. Under supervision, the Survey Technician will assist in property boundary surveys, topo surveys, construction staking, and cross sectioning. This includes, but is not limited to, searching for property pins, survey monuments, setting appraisal stakes and lath for use in right of way acquisitions, set stakes and lath for construction of highway/road projects.
Utility Specialist
Starting wage is $21.30 - $24.50 per hour, DOE.

- The Utility Specialist assists the Utility Coordinator in the technical and administrative field and office duties associated with the installation, relocation, and/or protection of utilities installed in public roadways. Works with ACHD employees and the owners of utilities located in public roadways. Assists in developing schedules for installation and relocation of utilities, and in the resolution of utility-related problems. Maintains the database and monitors compliance with the District’s no-cut policy; performs construction plan reviews and quality checks.
Outreach Specialist – Commuteride
Starting wage is $19.40 – $22.30 per hour, DOE.

- The Outreach Specialist supports the development and implementation of community and employer outreach programs to increase the use of transportation options. This position works independently to contact and build relationships with employers, agencies, and organizations to promote, design, coordinate, and monitor alternative transportation programs in support of Commuteride initiatives. This position focuses on encouraging businesses to develop and implement commute programs, including rideshare solutions, to reduce single-occupancy vehicle trips in the Treasure Valley. The position is part of the Commuteride Department, which manages a multicounty vanpool program along with employer and commuter outreach programs.
Congestion Management Supervisor
Starting wage range of $91,104.00 – $104,624.00 annually, DOE.

- Supervises the activities and staff of the Congestion Management section of the Traffic Engineering Department. Also supervises the operations of the Traffic Management Center (TMC). Applies professional engineering knowledge and skills to traffic-related engineering projects. Prepares and manages the fiscal budget for the section and assists in the preparation of funding proposals. Oversees the design and construction of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), TMC operations, and other traffic control system projects. Investigates and resolves traffic operations and ITS related problems and complaints; plans, organizes and implements traffic flow and safety improvements including signal timing and coordination; performs traffic operations/safety analyses; implements complex traffic engineering studies including accident analysis, speed, capacity analysis, and before-and-after studies.
