Mechanic/WelderApplications are now being accepted for a Mechanic/Welder in the Fleet Services Division at Ada County HighwayDistrict. The starting wage is $17.83-$20.50 per hour/DOQ, plus an excellent benefits package.
Primary Responsibilities:
The Mechanic/Welder is responsible for welding, cutting and heating various broken machine parts and
castings as well as laying out and cutting steel from flats, channels and angle irons.
The incumbent operates hand and power tools such as a grinding machine, power hammer, power hack
saw or sheet metal roll and break
Performs mechanical repairs to trucks, automobiles, and heavy construction equipment.
Qualifications:
Must have considerable knowledge of metals, alloys and standard shop practices and techniques used in
welding, cutting, brazing, heating, and shaping metals.
Must have considerable knowledge of welding, fabrication and equipment repair hazards and safety
precautions.
The incumbent must supply his/her own tools.
Must have considerable experience as a welder/fabricator including experience in the repair and general
maintenance of heavy-duty construction equipment; completion of a recognized apprenticeship or
schooling program; OR any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the
required knowledge, skills, abilities.
