Engineering Lab Technician /Sr. Lab Technician
Primary Responsibilities:
Engineering Lab Technician & Sr. Lab Technician:
• Conducts sampling and testing of soils, aggregate, asphalt, and concrete to assure minimum District standards and specifications for construction materials are met (in the field and laboratory), and also completes the necessary documentation for each test. Both the Engineering Technician and Sr. Engineering Technician interact frequently with District inspectors and contractors.
Sr. Engineering Lab Technician:
• Additionally, performs technical materials tests and supervises other employees in the performance of their standardized laboratory tests. The incumbent often functions as the lead technician for field sampling and materials sample gathering.
Qualifications:
Engineering Lab Technician & Sr. Lab Technician:
• Knowledge of basic construction and engineering practices and procedures, and ability to perform basic mathematic equations is required. Experience using Excel is also required.
• A valid Idaho driver’s license is required. Must be able to lift/move up to 100 lbs. frequently and be able to obtain a Safety Certification for Nuclear Devices within 6 months.
• Any combination of experience, education, and training which provides the required knowledge may be acceptable.
Sr. Engineering Lab Technician:
• Additionally, must have considerable knowledge and experience with laboratory and materials testing equipment, practices and procedures. Knowledge of basic construction and engineering practices and procedures, and ability to perform complex mathematical equations is required. Experience using Excel is required. Must be fully WAQTC qualified and certified to use the Nuclear Moisture Density Gauge.
